540528 2007-04-12 20:10:00 I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this .

I am in Dialup so downloading the new ZA update (39 meg v 13meg) was a big 2 . 5 hour job .

I installed it and it seems they make you DL the full security suite and upon install you select full package trial or Free only .

All went fine but I started thinking about the size package . I help various friends and have recommended ZA for some time and this sort of size is a problem .

Following suggestions of a friend I decided to investigate the COMODO Firewall (8 meg)

Uninstalled ZA, Installed COMODO and looked good . However while it authorised OE and IE, it refused to allow access . Turn it off and all fine, turn on and blocked . Spent several hours, some on the phone with the friend who uses it but no luck .

In the end I uninstalled COMODO and tried to reinstall ZA . Opps - Message zpeng24 . dll not installed (I have heard of this error with the new ZA from others but did not experience it originally)

Nothing I tried worked . Tried system restore but had different errors and after an afternoon of frustration I reinstalled the image file I had made before starting this process . All fine now with the original version on ZA .

I have been away since this happened but when I get back and have time, I intend making another image and trying comodo again but without installing the bloated new ZA . ie either turning off or uninstall the current ZA

Any thoughts or suggestions .

540529 2007-04-12 21:02:00 When u say Comodo refused to allow access, what access are you talking about?? access to the net, access to a folder on a network, or what??

The only thing u have to do after Comodo is installed, is click on Tasks / Define a new trusted network, click on next, the name of the NIC will appear, then u click on next, then finish.

Thats if you're talking about access to a folder on a network.

Then it'll give u access. Not a good idea having ZA and Comodo installed at the same time, you'll have more probs, with the 2 conflicting.

540530 2007-04-12 22:35:00 just check ZA is fully uninstalled. sometimes it breaks when uninstalling and leaves bits still hooked into the system. sometimes other firewalls won't work when this happens.

it also can help if you turn off your antivirus as sometimes the scanner interupts the install/uninstall and casues a few problems.
