| 540401 | 2007-04-12 09:38:00 | i have slingshot broadband and use firefox and outlook express. When i turn on the machine it seems that there is a blockage in the broadband that stops any email or internet activity happening for several minutes until this is cleared. is this normal as i thought broadband was permanently connected and should connect straight away ? ' thanks |

| 540403 | 2007-04-12 10:13:00 | It could possibly be a firewall, or maybe your internet connection has an idle timeout set (ie it takes the connection down if theres no activity) So when you boot up it may take a little while to come online. |

| 540405 | 2007-04-12 23:43:00 | Are you using a router or a USB modem? If you're using a modem it's more than likely the time it takes your PC to initialise the modem and for it to complete it's handshake with slingshot. If you're using a router then you should be connected as soon as your PC receives an IP address from the router. if not then check your router settings for idle timeout and change it to always on if it's not already done so. |
