2007-04-15 22:56:00 | I have replaced a old 40g hard drive with a samsung 300g 7200 rpm 2mb uata 133,when I install win XP Pro it only sees 131 at the formatting hard drive in the setup and if you do all of the setup it then shows as 137 as the C drive. the motherboard (KM266 Albatron) manual says it supports uata 133 drive with no size limit mentioned.I have tried LBA,Large and Auto in the hard drive Bios settings,it shows as a 300g there but in windows its screwed up,I have checked makers web site for Bios updates, none seem to fix this problem. any ideas, John.

2007-04-15 23:05:00 | You need XP with SP1 already included to see more than 137 during setup. | PaulD (232) | |

2007-04-15 23:58:00 | Your disk could be an old original version. My XP had a red sticker on the sleeve "Includes Service Pack 1a" disk had Version 2002 on Hologram. The change needed was in SP1 but a disk with SP2 will do the same. | PaulD (232) | |
2007-04-16 00:18:00 | Hi i had the same problem and tried lots of things. You need SP2 but I upgraded to Vista and it was fixed. Not sure if SP1 fixes it. Cheers

2007-04-16 00:18:00 | I would slipstream SP2 with a copy of XP. That way, u wont have to install SP1 or 2 after u install XP. As its already installed. And it takes just as long as it would when installing just the normal XP. Tricky bit tho, can be making it bootable again, once u copy the XP files to the hdd (from the cd), and slipstream SP1/2, then burn the slipstreamed files back to the CD. If u do a clean install.
