541030 2007-04-14 16:10:00 Somehow, I think this post belongs here in the tech-side of F1, but there may be others who simply won't agree .

This is obviously technical in . . ahem! . . . . . nature, if you will, with a slant on the absurd .

Here's the LINK (http://216 . 240 . 139 . 101/) . . . let the mods do with this as they see fit . (and NO, it's not a warez site either!)

. . . living with my one mark of shame .

541031 2007-04-14 21:40:00 I could be missing something, but there appears to be more than one thing stuffed in that case :stare: Shortcircuit (1666)
541032 2007-04-14 21:54:00 Well, that is . . . ah, different . :waughh:

You could probably try that with a possum except they aren't as chubby as that wee fella .

541034 2007-04-14 22:17:00 The Beaver humour is beyond me... guess its a Beetle type thing, or peculiar to USA.

 Tazz, you sure have this correct - good on ya!
Buying new hardware to handle Vista ..... $900
Buying Vista Home Premium upgrade ....... $350
Watching Vista crash for the first time ..
Priceless !!

541035 2007-04-15 09:06:00 I was wondering whether you realise we don't have beavers here, Joe.
And that made me wonder if you know about our possums?
(technically the ring-tailed opossum)

We got them from Australia, where they're a protected native - much to our fury.
They've increased so hugely here that they're a major pest species, destroying our native bush & carrying TB to our stock.
They look cuddly - BUT...

Sorry to say that sending a live beaver thru the mail to another country is somewhat illegal .

Pity, though . It would be nice to have these friendly, affectionate little guys blocking your streams and waterways with their dams and felled trees .

Madison Avenue guys used to have one as a spokesman called "Bucky Beaver" ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Ipana" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) for a toothpaste called "Ipana ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Ipana" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org)", which is long time now gone from the shelves and possibly the memory of people here in the US . It had a theme song (if I can remember the words) that went like this:

<song> "Brush-a, brush-a, brush-a,
With the new Ipana
It's a brand new toothpaste,
With the great new flavor
It's better for your tee--eth!" </song>

. . . well, I DID remember the words . . . now let's have a hearty round of applause for Madison Avenue's Trained Reflex and Mental Branding Department . . . that commercial was over . . . let's see . . . . er . . . 58 years ago! Gadfry! :waughh:

See what you've missed? Youse guys really need beavers!

Here's a site with some really old US commercials I stumbled upon researching some info on Ipana: . roadode . com/groom_1 . shtml" target="_blank">www . roadode . com

I saved them in the WMP 10 files so I can see them later . . . but I cannot see a ring-tailed possum singing well enough to make me want to buy something . . . unless it's ammunition to shoot him . . . .

No thanks Joe. Our beautiful country has enough pests introduced by idiots with an extreme lack of foresight without us bringing in any more to cause untold damage. :(
