540941 2007-04-14 06:15:00 I think this may have been mentioned here before . I updated my Windows today on my laptop (the PC was updated earlier this week successfully, but I run IE6 on it) . After the update, I couldn't go anywhere on the net, not to my home page or elsewhere .

I then Restored to prior to the update -and all is well again . Is there something I should alter/change (ie, a security setting in IE7 or similar) for a successful update?:help:

As always - TIA for the help out of my pickles!

Cheers :)

540942 2007-04-14 06:44:00 You don't run Zone Alarm by any chance.

540944 2007-04-14 07:25:00 Check services in control panel / admin tools .

Under the proxy service .

Double click on it (general tab) . Look at service status . Is it on stop? If it is, thats the prob . When the service stops, browsing will too .

Click on start, then go to the recovery tab change the top 3 options to restart the service . Then OK .

540946 2007-04-14 08:14:00 Are there any entries with Proxy in it under services?

I cant remember exactly what it was called, as I chucked ZA in the bin . Is it Truevector proxy or something?

540948 2007-04-14 08:36:00 What update was it? Just IE 7 or something else as well? Speedy Gonzales (78)
540949 2007-04-14 08:42:00 There were 10 updates (but I know not what they all were **!?)... R.M. (561)
540950 2007-04-14 08:49:00 You should have turned ZA off (while these updates, whatever they were, were installed) .

To see if ZA was the prob, I would say its the prob .

Can u take a snapshot (or snapshots of what services are in services), and upload the pic/s to ImageF1?

Whatever these updates were, I wouldnt leave them uninstalled .
