540871 2007-04-13 11:37:00 I formatted over the partition that had Vista on it, problem is in BIOS it still asks me which OS to boot into.
How can get rid of this problem? I tried pulling the CMOS battery but that didn't help.
Do I have to edit the registry or something like that in C: which has XP Pro on it.
I tried recovery console (booting off XP CD) but it wouldn't let me run fixboot, it said it was an ivalid command. Maybe I have the syntaX wrong.

Right click My Computer

>>Advanced
>>>Start up and Recovery - Settings
>>>>Edit

Under [operating systems] delete the line that states Vista.

It is critical that you delete the Vista line and only the vista line. Keep the XP line intact.

Enjoy :)

540873 2007-04-13 15:46:00 Do you know what bootloader is being used?

I think you use fixmbr, if that dosent sort it then try fixboot

Another way, if it is the Vista bootloader thats causing the problem, is to use the bootloader uninstall option in Vistabootpro, it uninstalls the Vista bootloader and restores the Legacy Os boot ( A GUI version of the fixmbr, etc. ?)
