I have a Compaq Presario v2000. The screen darkens when I plug in the mains adapter. It lightens up when I remove the plug. It is almost unreadable when it is dark. I cannot find a way in the screen settings to lighten it up. Games often have a slider in their options to lighten the screen. Is there anything like this available? Thanks for any help David |

Screen brightness, contrast, etc are often extra functions of (usually) some of the top row "F_" keys on laptops. Look for a "Fn" key which might be there as a "shift" for that. Brightness is usually a little "sun" icon. |

Graham L had the answer! There are little suns on F7 & F8 with arrows pointing up and down. By holding down the Fn key and tapping F8 the screen brightens. Problem solved Thanks David |
