That's what it says in the device manager about the CD and DVD drives. It's an ASUS CRW-4832AS CD drive and a philips DVD drive. Any idea where I can download another driver or redownload the one that's already there? The driver version is 5.1.2535.0 7/1/2001.

Yup. Actually, the IDE connector I think was bad, because it wasn't even recognizing them in the BIOS until I stuck another one in.

541978 2007-04-18 01:45:00 Hmm are u sure u connected the IDE cable the right way??

With the stripe (on one side), going to pin 1 on both the DVD and the CD?

And if the IDE connector is blue the blue end is connected to the mobo?

All of the cables are connected . They're showing up in the BIOS and in the device manager, but in the device manager, it says the driver is missing or corrupt . Also, I get an Enumerate Device Win32_CDROMDrive Fail !! error once windows has booted and I'm at the desktop .

Actually it does .

80 wire is better, quite a few burners (and hdd's), if its 40 wire it'll only go to DMA 2, the 80 wire will take it to DMA 4/5 .

Thanks. It worked. They finally work...I've been without them for a few days.
