| 541639 | 2007-04-17 02:13:00 | I am getting the "Server not found" message when trying to access a couple of web sites that I could access with no problem about a week ago. I asked a friend to try on his PC and he had no problem, so I assumed that some update to Windows/Spyware/other was causing the blockage. So do a System Restore to last week..... New problem. Can't do a System Restore to any of 5 dates listed. Tried in Safe mode, but same outcome. Googled for info. and found several references to corrupt Windows updates, a file called verclsid.exe, and advice that was over my head. Do not want to make things worse by acting without understanding. Any and all advice much appreciated. KB |

This programme is apparently connected to Windows updates. One site I visited recommended deleting verclsid.exe ( I haven't done this) Restore went through the motions and re-booted my PC then brought up a dialog box saying PC cannot be restored, no changes made. I got out and was back to square one. (I tried other, more recent, SR points with same result) KB. | kbcad (1025) | ||
