2007-04-18 10:27:00 | Hmm, home from work 7:30pm - no internet, and by the looks of things it was out most of the day. Nothing on the whoosh website, but it most certainly wasn't just a few hrs this morning. (working - for how long? - since sometime after 9pm) Wonder if I'll get a small credit...

2007-04-18 21:06:00 | Not sure if it related - but my xnet connection was fine up to midday yesterday (18th) and has been down since. Have tried resetting the router, rolling back setttings resetting the computer but to no avail. The modem/router is not detecting the DSL. Again this morning still nothing. Any ideas/help would be appreciated!! | theflyingsurfer (12111) | |
2007-04-18 21:12:00 | This story, by Stephen Bell in Wellington, was posted to our sister site Computerworld (computerworld.co.nz): Outage hits Telecom network Several thousand broadband customers of Telecom and ISPs who buy its wholesale service were cut off this morning for five hours, by a fault that apparently sprang from an attempted upgrade. Telecom was upgrading equipment at about 5:30 this morning, a spokeswoman says. The work exposed or indirectly caused a fault in a network component, believed to be a router. Service was restored at 10:35, says Telecom. Domestic and commercial customers were affected as well as Parliament. Affected users may need to reboot their modems to restore service.

2007-04-18 21:16:00 | Yes, I noticed that outage yesterday morning.... Rang Ihug and their IVR told me it was a Telecom outage. Meant I didnt have to spend 45 minutes in the queue to speak to an Agent. Good on Ihug for reacting so quickly / well :)

2007-04-18 21:45:00 | Xnet were the same. Had a recorded message answering the phone telling of the outage. No hanging around on hold and no need for me to go tinkering with my router settings!! | Tukapa (62) | |
2007-04-18 22:28:00 | Hmmm, but I still have no access at home even now and you all seem to be fixed. Might have to try xnet and see what they say. | theflyingsurfer (12111) | |
2007-04-18 22:45:00 | Did you reboot your modem before trying to use the net after the outage? | DeSade (984) | |
2007-04-19 01:02:00 | Strange, still wasn't working, when I rung xnet to talk to them, it suddenly just worked, I'm wondering about a possible problem with filters?? | theflyingsurfer (12111) | |
