2007-04-18 03:10:00 | it is possible to mount some fans upside down - particularly some AMD fans which are attached to the heatsink with 4 screws. There are 2 arrows on the side of the fan indicating rotation direction and airflow, one of them should be pointing down into the heatsink the other doesn't matter. Look at all 4 sides and you should find them. Drawing air out of the heatsink will still help more than not having a fan at all, but isn't recommended. If the fan is moulded into a plastic cover as part of the heatsink assembly it shouldn't be possible to have it upside down.

2007-04-18 04:40:00 | Thanks dugimodo! Ima try that. Ahh the joys of Norton. Couldnt uninstall it so I formatted again! Glad that was quick... Now using Nod32. I believe the issue is to do with SP2. Noticed that after installing that it slows down boot time as well. Should I install Sp2 after installing core progs such as AV and firewall? Thanks..

2007-04-18 04:47:00 | SP2 is a must for the security holes it plugs alone, also a lot of things will not work without it. | DeSade (984) | |
2007-04-18 04:47:00 | Ah no Nortons is a memory hog, it would slow down a system. Even if 1Gb is installed. SP2 would only go slow (or make u crash, if u had spyware/malware at the time). As SP2 doesnt like spyware. Before u install SP2, install Windows/the mobo drivers, the LAN/Sound, then everything else.

I am now going to install drivers, then install SP2 . |

2007-04-18 20:40:00 | Yup WolfForest22, we all learn things the hard way too... Ive got another question, when ever I maximise program windows, it is taking over the entire screen. Taking over the task bar (where start button is). I am guessing this is an option somewhere, cant seem to nail this thing. Ta

2007-04-19 12:16:00 | it's ridiculously easy to test if norton is slowing you down......just goto msconfig/startup tab and UNtick 'ccapp'.......that's the main startup for norton....that'll effectively disable it and it wont load at boot ......if you then boot up faster well you've found yoru problem also [B]I decided enough is enough and formatted drive and re-installed%2
