542011 2007-04-18 05:44:00 Hi there,

I need help with networking my
Windows XP
3400+ 64 AMD 2.1 GhZ

and my

Windows Vista
Intet (R) Core Duo T2350 @ 1.86 GHz 1.87GHz
Toshiba Laptop

Here is how far I have gotten.

I have connected my XP computer with my D-Link G604T Modem Router via ethernet and have setup wireless.

I have connected to the G604T using the Laptop's wireless feature.

Now is where I am confused. I want to setup my printer so that the laptop can use it to print. The printer is connected via USB to the XP machine.
I also want to be able to send files to one another computer.

How do I go about doing this and can you please help me very clearly..

Very much appreciated.

cheers

542012 2007-04-18 06:00:00 Go into printers and faxes, on the XP PC. Select properties / sharing tab.

Select share the printer. (Note the share name of the printer here).

Then on Vista wherever the printer option is to add one.

If its the same as XP's go to add a printer, then if it gives u an option to add one on a network, type in:

\\computername (on XP)\printername (the share name of the printer).

Hopefully, once it picks it up it should work from Vista.

Unless you're using a firewall apart from Vista, I cant help u with the file sharing . As I'm not using Vista.
