543017 2007-04-21 09:36:00 Since a few days ago, whenever I sign in to ONE of my accounts, *the others work fine), it freezes as soon as it connects, and doesnt respond, and lags, and disconnects, and all that stuff.

It has only been happening since Thursday. Anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks

543018 2007-04-21 12:36:00 How many contacts have you got? Whats your connection speed? Have you tried an online messenger like e-messenger (ebuddy i think?)? Tried Gaim / aMSN? Chilling_Silence (9)
543019 2007-04-21 23:07:00 I have about 450 contacts I think, and 56k dialup lol.

I have tried webmessenger, the account works at my friends houses, and at internet cafes, just not at my house. This started about on Thursday. Before then, it worked fine.:waughh:

543020 2007-04-21 23:13:00 Well if I had 450 ppl in my house at the same time, I bet everything would freeze too. :waughh: Speedy Gonzales (78)
543021 2007-04-21 23:17:00 Like I said, I had over 450 before Thursday, so it cant be that.

This thing also happened to an old MSN address on my old computer - would lag, freeze, etc, and only had about 50 contacts.

543022 2007-04-21 23:19:00 Get a better IM program. Speedy Gonzales (78)
543023 2007-04-21 23:22:00 It was doing it on MSN 7.5, so then I downloaded Windows Live, 17.5mb, (took a while on 56k), and it still hasnt solved anything. Wardog (6821)
543024 2007-04-21 23:26:00 Its the number of contacts you have, straight up!

My brother used to get so pissed off a few years back when we were on 28.8kbps dial-up. He'd gone & added a couple of hundred random peoples coz he thought their Email address was cool, then he realized he couldnt sign-on. It would time-out while getting the status / details for all the users.
I only had about 50 at the time, no problems for me.

Same is probably happening to you, so you need to sign into a web-based messenger (SHOULD work), or go back to a Cybercafe and sign in there on their high-speed connection. Go through and delete some *old* friends who never talk to you anymore.

All there is to it until you get a faster connection

Cheers

543026 2007-04-22 07:52:00 Well that's like saying "I've never had a flat tire before" but it doesn't mean you'll never get one. --Wolf-- (128)
