542920 2007-04-21 06:47:00 Ok my friends, I have a question, How do I know if my PC has a high-power 500 mA USB port? If this is possible to know, then how do I know wich one of the 8 USB ports in total (2 in the front and 6 on the back) are high-powered ones? Thanks in advance! JOYBEBA6679 (10686)
542921 2007-04-21 06:49:00 All of them provide 500ma.

As long as the mobo / system has USB 2 ports on it.

And as long as SP2 is installed if u have XP, and SP4 if u have SP4.

Look in device manager for an enhanced host controller entry, under USB controllers. If this is there you've got USB 2.

542922 2007-04-21 06:51:00 Ok, So there is no way to check which port has this hig-power?? I need one that really has this! JOYBEBA6679 (10686)
542923 2007-04-21 06:54:00 Like I just said, they're all the same speed, and if theyre USB 2 ports, theyre faster than the old USB 1.1

And if SP2 or SP4 is installed, they'll run at USB 2 speed.

Thats if u use USB 2 devices.

If whatever you're plugging in is USB 1.1, it'll only run at USB 1.1 speed.

542924 2007-04-21 06:54:00 Why not end any confusion and just run a dynamically-powered USB hub?

Takes all the guesswork out that way.

542925 2007-04-21 06:55:00 Ok I do have SP2 running and in fact its not the speed I need what I need is the power. How do I know if I have this USB 2.0? JOYBEBA6679 (10686)

The bottom line.

Does the device you're going to plug in say its USB 2??

If it doesnt, it'll be USB 1.1

Yes the device I want to connect is 2.0. I mean it needs the high-power to charge the battery faster!. Thas why I need it, to charge the battery faster!

Its a powered USB hub, you can plug USB 2 devices into.

However not all USB 2 devices like USB hubs. They will refuse to work properly, or not at all.
