542230 2007-04-21 13:45:00 i requested 460cds.. (for all of hawkes bay) but damn are they getting stingy.... only 50 got approved. Dannz (1668)
542231 2007-04-21 15:20:00 They'll probably be sending out more of those free CD's just after the release and so will probably be only filling smaller bulk orders until the initial demand has died down. Faded_Mantis (79)
542232 2007-04-21 22:35:00 If someone has downloaded the Kubuntu DVD, I would sure like to try out that. Otherwise the CD would be great. bob_doe_nz (92)
542233 2007-04-23 03:46:00 I have just tried the live CD of Ubuntu 7 and it rocks. Except on my desktop PC that is... Works great on the laptop, but on the PC I have to start in safe graphics mode to get it to work, and then when it appeared to boot properly I found it did not recognise my Msoft wireless mouse and keyboard so I had no controls.

Looks great on the laptop. Without any intervention from me to choose settings, it found my network and I could connect to the other computers, and it found and connected to the internet. Unlike v6, it mounted all the windoze partitions on the desktop.

I am impressed, except for the problems with my desktop PC. Hmmm...

542234 2007-04-23 11:25:00 I installed it today.. was messing with some of the services and broke the GUI tool already :D

Looks very nice, very easy to get accustomed to. Freaked me out a bit when sudo wouldnt work. Was nice when I found the root password was the same as my users :)
