542657 2007-04-20 14:13:00 I just copied some OE files today and am now wondering if I mucked it up. Having since deleted the OE folder of course :D

I've only ever done it once before and it worked that time.

I copied the folder contents to a folder I'd set up in My Documents as a .dbx file. I'm assuming the files are all .dbx and OE will import them if I want.

Is this any help to PJ?

542659 2007-04-21 01:56:00 I use an outlook express backup utility when ever I format a computer. It's great.
It restores all your emails, contacts and settings.
You can download the trial version for free and thats all you need really.

Get it here (www.sharewareconnection.com)

542660 2007-05-04 23:41:00 Hi All .

Maryann recently had her HD reformatted . When OE Folders were saved, first, they were put into a folder INBOX in My Documents . How can we get all these folders back into Local Folders again? PJ .

I finally resolved this problem . This is how , I think, I did it .

I opened OE Inbox & shrunk the window down to half . Opened up the Desktop Icon 'Inbox' & did the same . So I had the two side by side .

In Inbox folders I made a new folder with the same name as one in the 'Inbox' . Opened that 'Inbox' folder . Opened the new folder .

In the 'Inbox' folder I 'Selected All', then Dragged & Dropped the whole 'selected' into the new folder .

Hooray, it worked . Took me an hour to do it, but it was worth it .

Thnka for all your help . PJ:thumbs:

542661 2007-05-05 00:24:00 Great that you got it sorted Poppa John, I am so relieved for you because there can be so many things you want to check back on - sometimes very unexpectedly.

I wonder if it is not best though to have your messages in a separate partition (along with photos and music, letters etc) ? My C Drive was partitioned into C and D drives. All this data is in my D drive. Presumably this makes putting everything back in its place much easier ? Or am I missing something ?
cheers

542662 2007-05-05 01:01:00 Misty....Worth thinking about. My comp has a 160Gb hd & IS petitioned C & D. Maryann has an 80GB, don't know if it is worth doing a partition, or putting in another 80GB as D. the only problem with the second option is these things $$$ PJ Poppa John (284)
