542380 2007-04-20 08:05:00 I have never seen a defrag option in any iPod menu although the reformat for Mac or PC is pretty normal when associating an iPod with different computers. I think defragging is more of a Windows OS necessity than anything. winmacguy (3367)
542381 2007-04-20 08:11:00 Well true, but u can defrag an Ipod in XP/2K once its plugged in.

You right mouse/properties/tools. On the Ipod.

Then you'll see the normal Windows defrag option.

The same way u can defrag a hdd.

542382 2007-04-20 08:14:00 You'll like it, it's brilliant. They've finally got the video sorted too :D

I tried Rockbox last night, on the 40GB Ipod lol, it looks crap in B&W.

After a few minutes I thought I had killed it. Coz when it went off, it wouldnt come on again.

But I got it going again.

And I tried it on the Ipod Vid 60 GB. Looked a lot better, but I couldn't find out where to find the option/s for Video.

Were you trying to sync your iPod with your video clips Speedy?

Nope, I was just trying Rockbox out last night to see what it was like .

And since u have to to press menu/select I think it is, to switch between it and the normal Ipod . When I shut down Rockbox I couldnt turn it back on, or switch it back to the Normal Ipod . But after a few more tries, it came back to life .

Same with the Video, altho that wasnt as bad . I was trying to see if there was a video option when Rockbox was on it, to see what it was like . But I couldnt find it .

There are 3 vids on the video Ipod at the mo tho . I synced them with Itunes .

542385 2007-04-20 09:39:00 I'm about to sync a few rock videos to my iPod via iTunes but I used h.264 in Handbrake which iTunes doesn't seem to like for some reason. I used it for the better quality of video. I can still watch them on my computer so it is not much of a problem. winmacguy (3367)
542386 2007-04-20 09:49:00 Hmm, the vids here are fine, one was recorded on a DV cam and converted to MP4 .

The other was on Prime a while ago, Of Queen's concert in 86 .

Which was recorded from the onboard tuner, then converted to MP4 .

And a few music vids, I got off Youtube, that I converted to MP4 format .

542387 2007-04-20 10:07:00 MP4 was the other option in Handbrake which I think I should have chosen. I am pretty sure that the iTunes store offers movies in h.264 which is why I chose it. I may just re rip the videos in MP4. winmacguy (3367)
542388 2007-04-20 10:13:00 Dont know about Itunes well buying things thru it . I dont use it for that .

I just use it for checking updates / syncing the contacts and calendar, a few MP3's and the vids . Just takes too long to get anything on dialup .

Altho there's no point thinking about it, if u dont use credit cards :D
