| 543138 | 2007-04-21 22:21:00 | Hi, I rebuilt my pc (core duo 6400, Gigabyte 965p-ds3, 2 gb ram) and thought while I was at it I'd do a clean instal of Vista Home prem. However I found some software I need doesn't yet have Vista updates, so I reinstalled XP Pro in a seperate partition and use Easy BCD for dual booting. So far, so good, everything seems to work ok. What I need to know though, is how to install software I want to work in both environments. For example, if I browse to the exe file of an app I set up in vista while running XP, I can launch it, but it then goes through the usual registration process, and works fine. But does this end up causing issues when swapping between os's? Do the preferences/custom settings tweaked in one os conflict with the other? I guess I need to know if i have to go through the full install process in each os, or if I can just use the one install for both. thanks Bill |
