| 542994 | 2007-04-21 11:25:00 | I went to Harvey Norman today to kill time and have a look around and found that they are selling Linspire Five-0 CNR® edition for $149.95. in a glossy green box, looks very professional, and reading the box it sounds very good, and it had pictures of the OS as well on the box-looks good. And a nice easy Linux to learn/use. I just thought I would let people know that its for sale there.:) Oh and at Dicksmith Electronics they are selling Ubuntu Linux 6.10 and Fedora Core 6 both OS's on dvd for $9.98. Both of these have 2 dvds-(1 for older pc's and 1 for 64bit optimised). (And yes I know there is a new Ubuntu 7.04 out as well).:) If any of this is old news then just disregard, just letting the good people here at PressF1 know. |

I see Ubuntu have stopped shipping the latest ones and now only do the previous release, but who cares, as zcc says, they're free to download. |

| 543002 | 2007-05-03 02:18:00 | Hi Guys DSE will be doing Ubuntu 7.04 DVD i386 and AMD64 bundle in a few weeks (like they do with 6.10). The idea is that it is accessible to everyone as it is only $9.98 since not everyone has the bandwidth available. Also, while you can get CD version via Ubuntu Ship-It, they do not do DVD versions for free. The DVD versions are available via Amazon for US$12.98 and that's for just one DVD! You can get both at the same time for US$25.98, so the DSE deal is a steal at NZ$9.98 for both DVDs! |

| 543003 | 2007-05-03 04:18:00 | The "Linspire" Harvey Norman are selling is the retail version, which comes with eligibility for support. All major Linux distributions have retail packages. Where do you think they get the money to pay their programmers and support staff? If noone bought the retail versions, the distributions would die. Dick Smith sell disks containing "free download" Linux. They won't give any support. |
