1413638 2016-01-01 00:13:00 Hello guys, how`re you doing?

I`m planning to build a new desktop for gaming buying the pieces on amazon. I don`t know how to build (buy pieces that work well together) it but I need help to create the best spec possible with $750 - $850 (no monitor, just desktop), can someone help me?

For the PC, I want to use a ``Cube Cooler``, because I travel a lot so it helps me to carry it.

MINI COOLER Example:

Corsair Carbide Series Air 240 High Airflow MicroATX - $90,00
www.amazon.com

My idea is use at least 16RAM, if possible.

Sorry for my english.

Regards,
Escudero

1413642 2016-01-01 01:30:00 So what kind of motherboard do you want? A LGA 1511 / skylake?

Obviously our prices will be completely different / and higher than yours

1413643 2016-01-01 01:42:00 Once you get the motherboard the manual for it will tell you how to assemble it (install the CPU / motherboard, ram) etc

Are you on Ebay?

1413644 2016-01-01 04:33:00 I think you'd be better off on a US based forum, like maybe Tom's hardware. We can tell you if the parts you want are suitable but US pricing is not so easy to sort out from New Zealand which is where this forum is based.

For gaming you want a reasonable Quad core CPU such as any current model i5, at least 8GB of RAM, a decent quality PSU, and the best graphics card you can afford. The rest is largely about personal preference.
There is always a compromise so give as much information as you can, what type of games and what resolution your monitor is helps to recommend a graphics card for example.

One way to save some money without impacting gaming performance in most titles is to decide up front never to overclock which allows you to use cheaper motherboards & CPU's and stick with stock cooling. It's also a lot more straightforward and still gets you a very capable gaming machine if you chose the right parts.

1413645 2016-01-01 07:58:00 Personally I think it's a good idea to get a motherboard and CPU supporting on-chip graphics and wifi. Even if the immediate use is gaming via a separate graphics card.

That's because in 4 years time when the MB is old technology it can be used for various other purposes such as a media player.

The 2 factors that have changed in the last year are (a) the MB now has a permanent copy of Windows attached to it and (b) Skylake is very power efficient.

Anyway, that's what I intend to do. I'm thinking of building a media player box out of 9mm MDF. It only has to house two components: the mini-ITX MB assembly and a 200W power supply. No disc drives as the OS is on M.2. Media will be accessible via wifi, controls will use BT

1413646 2016-01-01 23:00:00 Windows is not included with motherboards you purchase separately as a component, at least not yet that I've seen. They could totally do that but it would make them seem more expensive.
Pre-built machines quite likely do have a hardware key built in but not so for home built machines. It's actually not that much different from a standard OEM licence really, just a little more convenient and harder to lose the key.

I agree with the on-board graphics as there are many scenario's it can be useful in but it's actually difficult to find a mainstream machine that doesn't have it these days so not really much of an issue, and wi-fi is down to personal preference a bit. I use it a lot on portable devices but always use a cable for any desktop type hardware. Plus usb wi-fi adapters are cheap add-ons at a later date.
