Very interesting indeed zwerty.

The Russians were nowhere near as clever as they made out to be and the media depicted them at the time.

In fact, the whole thing was just balls-up after balls-up. :groan:

Also check out the full 2 part doco that clip was taken from.
Turns out there has been alot of BS spat out over the amount of actual deaths (mainly just the firefighters) , and the actuall doseages you get when visiting the sites.
His total radiation dose at the end of the doco, after visting many sites, was neglible.
The docu was made by a scientist, so isnt scare mongering.

The Brits almost had a Chernobyl of there own. UK made the 1st ever full scale atomic power generator , and the pile caught fire a year later.
They didnt know how to put it out :-0 ,never planned for disasters, so they took a wild guess on how to put out the fire & came out lucky. The only reason the fire didnt irradiate parts of UK is because one scientist insisted that filters were put in the tower, engineers thought he was mad to insist on filters .

One of the early reasons for the rush to build nuc power plants , was they were needed to mass produce plutonium . Thats why the US doesnt want Iran to have one .

Quite correct. It was a bit like lighting a match to see if you have fixed the gas leak,
