1406521 2015-08-14 20:06:00 Please not get into Metro, Tiles, Start Menus etc.
Just day to day use!
What new features have you found ?

I have had Windows 10 for a few days now.

It seems to load and shut down faster.
I love the look of the Virtual desktops - but need to find out more on how to use them. That new icon at the left of the task bar. WOW.
I am having to redo all of my default programs.

In general I am very pleased that I upgraded.

1406522 2015-08-14 21:51:00 The breadcrumb trail (I went from Win7 which didn't have it)
screens seem a lot clearer yet all the same hardware
fast boot and shut down
all my hardware seems to be working
and yes I do actually like this start menu

1406523 2015-08-14 22:11:00 I still haven't quite warmed to it yet. It's good, but nothing that 8.1 didn't offer.

(Yes, I prefer the full screen Start menu ;))

(Yes, I prefer the full screen Start menu ;))Ditto :) About the only thing That I like is the multi Desktops. Other than that it doesn't do anything that W8.1 cant do.

AS for the full screen start menu Like W8.1, that's the first thing I put back. :)

To put it back, go into the settings, Personalization, Start, and turn it back on.

If you want the new start menu its still theres as well ( and power Button) , The bottom horizontal lines give the full list 0-9. A-Z top left hand corner the three horizontal lines, the default start menu.

Tapping the windows key also brings the full screen in this configuration, you either open something or tap the windows key to go back to desktop.

Also use The OLD IE by default, Edge is so bland. Mind you having the Dock that I added helps with commonly used programs.

Yes the breadcrumbs trail in W7 was one of the best things they ever did!
And yes my W10 screen also seem sharper with the same hardware.

1406526 2015-08-15 00:21:00 I like it, a lot more than 8/8.1

However, the start menu + taskbar is too buggy for it to get my outright approval.

Thanks WT for the full screen set up. Now set mine up.

- Installing W10 took out the old spybot. Now using MS safety scanner. Just expired; Need to re-download.
- W10 almost instant shutdown and fast boot up.
- Start Menu and task bar search bit slow to load sometimes.

1406529 2015-08-15 06:42:00 First impressions are favourable, but it's hard to say at the moment that it's better than 7 without burrowing beneath the UI. It seems to zip along OK, with a snappy boot-up. I upgraded my "spare" desktop PC from Win 7 and I was impressed how everything sprang to life at the end of the installation, nearly all the installed software worked straight off. Some exceptions - Stardock Fences had some problems, so I dumped that. Microsoft Money needs a registry change to work, but now seems OK. Sorry, but I still hate the Start Menu. No worries though, Stardock have released Start 10 and that fixes that issue. Best of all, Lightroom 6 has no problems (so far).

Slightly different story with the laptop. I had put a Samsung SSD in a few months ago, and Win 10 refused to install because it could not recognise the reserved partition on the disk. That needed a clean re-installation of Win 8.1, and then Win 10 went in, but I lost all my installed software. Still a couple of grouches; the Personalisation options seem more restricted and harder to find than in Win 7 (though better than 8.1), making changes seems more complex because as well as keeping the old Control Panel there is a new Settings screen that sometimes takes you back to the Control Panel and sometimes not. It can get confusing.

Final conclusion - it can pose challenges, but no real regrets.

What registry change did you make to get msmoney to work?
