| 1413738 | 2016-01-03 03:15:00 | Nearly screwed that up! But managed to get ethernet again. But the wireless is screwed I think. The mac can see the SSID but wont connect now ! Before the phone coulldnt connect and cut me off. But I stayed in TV when it came back. But, it looks like this is a pretty crappy modem to use anyway  People have had similar probs, trying to use an Iphone using its wireless |

| 1413739 | 2016-01-03 03:54:00 | Well, after a mammoth effort by Speedy, we're not a lot further ahead than when we started! The desktop connection works (we lost that completely for a while, phew!), the wireless is back after resetting the modem and chatting to a Spark tech. The iPad connects to the wireless without any problems and doesn't affect the desktop connection - BUT, and it's a big BUT - the iPhone still won't connect to and work on the wifi connection. It connects, all looks good, but when I try and open a web page it just won't open - and in the meantime the desktop connection stops working. I tested the iPhone and iPad on the neighbour's wifi and both worked perfectly so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the phone itself. Spark are sending me a new modem, so fingers crossed that will solve the problem. The woman I spoke to said sometimes a modem can't cope with multiple devices - but the Spark Home Gateway one I got from them 11 months ago has been coping fine with two iPads, an iPhone, a desktop and a laptop all that time. This only started on Friday about 4pm after I'd tried to use the wireless connection to load a couple of videos to Facebook. Whether that had anything to do with it or not I don't know, but that was exactly the time the wifi on the phone stopped working and the desktop problems started. I won't know until it arrives if the new modem is the answer, but at least it's free! A HUGE thank you to Speedy for all his help this afternoon, it was not fun for him I imagine, but he certainly tried every trick he could to get me sorted. I owe him more than a beer if he's ever in my neck of the woods! |

| 1413740 | 2016-01-03 04:48:00 | Umm does Spark have a online thing where you can check downloads / uploads or something Something similar to when you could check emails online and you could delete emails that got stuck? I don't know, I'm not with Spark |

| 1413742 | 2016-01-03 12:18:00 | Did you go in the Iphone and reset the network settings? I fixed one the other day that was having all kind of WIFI internet issues. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. |

| 1413743 | 2016-01-03 19:04:00 | Yup. Changed everything in the modem. Changed it to everything inc wireless N. Changed the security to None / open. Changed the channel to 6, 11, 13. Reset the modem 2-3 times. Didnt matter what we tried / changed the settings to. The phone still wouldnt connect |

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Tried that multiple times, along with resetting the modem, and absolutely nothing changed unfortunately. |

Reset the modem 2-3 times. Didnt matter what we tried / changed the settings to. The phone still wouldnt connect And still won't! I thought I'd try it again today in case it was some glitch due to atmospheric conditions or something bizarre, but the same thing is happening again. The iPhone shows it's connected to the wifi but no pages will load, and at the same time the desktop connection stops working while wifi is turned on on the phone. I found this thread online - forums.imore.com and tried the things I hadn't tried that were suggested there. I cleared the history and data in Safari and forced the phone to reboot, set the http proxy to auto, reset the network settings, renewed the lease, the works. I then turned on the wifi on the phone and it appeared to load Facebook and at the same time, I loaded Stuff on the desktop and it opened. I thought I was made, thought all those things had somehow restored the wifi on the phone but no, when I tried to post something on Facebook, I had the same problem - it told me it was taking a while to post and asked if I wanted to retry, and a second tab I tried to open on the desktop failed to open, saying the server wouldn't respond. Bugger. Turned off wifi on the phone and pages on the desktop loaded perfectly again. It looks like I'll have to just be patient and wait for the new modem to arrive and see if that solves the problem. Considering the phone will connect to wifi across the road without any problems, the wireless router must be the problem - although it's odd the iPad connects to the wifi at home without any problems and doesn't affect the desktop the way the phone connected to the wifi does. My husband's laptop (Windows) had no trouble connecting either, although everything seems a little slow today. I tried doing a speed test with Spark online but the page for the test asks me to choose the nearest location but no locations appear so I can't try that. I've used about 22GB of the 40GB I have with my home plan and that is due for renewal on the 12th so that is about average for our usage. I can't see if anything is stuck, like an email or video uploading or anything. At least I've got internet access and wifi access on the iPad if not the phone, so I am pretty sure I'll survive a few days without it! |

| 1413746 | 2016-01-04 00:21:00 | Turn proxy to off. See what happens. It's also strange that there was an ip conflict the other day. That shouldnt have happened. If something had that ip address already |

| 1413747 | 2016-01-05 21:47:00 | Bit of a process of elimination. First thing id do is change the router ( beg steal or borrow one if you don't have a spare), doesn't have to be anything fancy or high spec and see if the same problem happens with that. If it does then the problem is elsewhere. You know what? The first answer was the right one and I should have listened to wainuitech! Then Speedy wouldn't have wasted his Sunday afternoon trying to help me and we all would have had a few stress-free days! If I'd been able to get my old modem working on Saturday it's likely the modem would have been identified as the cause of the problem very quickly. I got the new modem from Spark this morning (minus the new ADSL filter that was meant to be in the box according to the equipment check) and plugged it in. Internet worked fine on the desktop and once I logged in to the wifi on the phone, it was obvious I was back in business again. I could load pages on the phone and post on Facebook - this time the post went through straight away rather than telling me it was taking a while to load and then giving me a 'retry' message. I was also able to load pages on the desktop while connected to wifi on the phone. So thank you to all who tried to help me. When I told my husband everything was working again, he said "you should have listened to that guy who told you to replace the modem!" So yes, I should have! I didn't like to ask the neighbours if I could borrow their modem, but in hindsight I should have! |
