1407832 2015-09-04 23:40:00 Is there some sort of graph or a report? How do you check if your investment you made is going up or down? Ninjabear (2948)
1407833 2015-09-04 23:44:00 the provider should provide you a report? my one does. each month. log online.

if you log onto the IRD with your logon name etc. you can see the contributions you have put in, also your boss and the govt have. But you won't be able to see the market return thou. but it does say how much was the free money from the boss and the govt.

oh.. so you haven't joined?

here is the free to view website without signing on with one plan:
www.gmi.co.nz

or the common bank like ANZ
customer.anz.co.nz

the money from the boss is not exactly free. it effectively comes out of your wages.
the govt tax credit is certainly handy and that really does tip the balance to make it worth while.

at the end of the day as a job applicant. if they propose $45k gross income. whether you sign up to kiwisaver or not, if you do not the boss isn't gonna increase your pay.

the boss can pay the kwisaver to IRD who will send it to kiwisaver account who ends up paying me, or he can pay it to me direct. either way hes paying, his choice as to who he pays it to.

i get your technical point but if the average person works for a company. if he/she does not sign up to KS, in most cases the boss isn't going pay more cos KS wasn't signed up. that would just be the boss's benefit.

one person goes to the recruitment agency or a corporate. get maybe $20/hour. if they sign up to KS or not. that $20/hr isn't going to change from the employee's point of view.

1407838 2015-09-05 08:42:00 I just do mine through the bank (Westpac). I have most of it on the growth plan which has returned a little extra. Just bought first home using it and I wouldn't of been able to otherwise so it's definitely worth while. hueybot3000 (3646)

1407840 2015-09-06 23:59:00 Are you better or worse off with the new rules? Got a couple of mates with exs that are fighting joint custody because it would mean less money to them

Kills is the word, went up $80 per week due to the new rules. 2 kids both over 14.
