1414225 2016-01-11 00:56:00 I've tried multiple distros over many years and never stuck with it. There's always ended up something that sent me back to windows. My last serious attempt was to make a media PC with a DVB-T TV tuner which failed utterly. After a week of research and looking up dependencies and loading packages my biggest triumph was getting a screen full of static out of the tuner but then I couldn't get it to scan for channels and gave up in frustration. Blu-Ray playback proved to be too hard for me as well.

Since then I've only used Linux for simple tasks on spare hardware or as a live disk to test with. Most recently I tried and failed to get Lightbox to work under Linux with pipelight. I think Linux is still best suited to people who like the challenge and learning experience. It is very good at giving you all the most common functions - E-mail, Web browsing, Office applications, etc with very little effort and for free, but after that it can rapidly get much more complicated. Worth a look for sure though.
