1407287 2015-08-28 05:02:00 yep, lets bankrupt all NZ retailers
Margins on consumer IT equipment is often paper thin, I doubt the lower priced NZ sellers will even be making
$40 on that .
yep ,Lets compare a NZ PC shops prices , who might sell 1 per week, to one of the biggest online retailers in the
world selling them in the hundreds per week (if not more)

since we want lower retail prices, lets drop the NZ min wage to that of China

same argument applies below
Why do NZ workers need to make an extra $300 per week on top of what they make in Asia.

You make some good points.
I used to sell PCs in NZ (many years ago) and I agree that for the cleverest people in the world PC makers and sellers are so stupid that they sell stuff on paper thin margins.

But what about NZ shoe retailers, or car body parts, or books etc etc.

And as for lowering our wages, I have always said that the continual 50 cents an hour rises in our minimum wages is killing our job market. They are now going to review Glenbrook steel mill as the aussie owners need to cut costs.

Why do we need to pay NZ workers 50 per cent more than US workers? (let alone asian workers)

They are now hiring at some US manufacturers at $9.00 an hour.

This is why our dollar needs to be lower than the US dollar so that we can sell our stuff to them.

1407288 2015-08-29 06:08:00 Another example a NZ computer store selling a cable adaptor that I am thinking of getting the want $56.00
For ebay in Australia $15 plus $12 postage.

1407291 2015-08-30 07:16:00 It wasn't me that left it in this state. It was all put away after I finished, honest. R2x1 (4628)
