1406532 2015-08-15 12:22:00 The points that I like with W10 are:-
*Fast Boot & shut down.
*Fast loading of programs (Nippy)
I dislike the following:-
*A lot of settings don't work yet
*Ugly, flat theme
*No borders
*Defender Icon will not stay on the notification area
* The start menu is not a problem as there is a very good after market one available.

I have parked both my updates and may return to them in 6 months time when all is sorted. Windows 7 is a hard act to follow!

this is not a problem, there was an appcompat update sent out mid last week to fix this appcompat issue

1406534 2015-08-15 19:54:00 First impressions are favourable, but it's hard to say at the moment that it's better than 7 without burrowing beneath the UI. It seems to zip along OK, with a snappy boot-up. I upgraded my "spare" desktop PC from Win 7 and I was impressed how everything sprang to life at the end of the installation, nearly all the installed software worked straight off. Some exceptions - Stardock Fences had some problems, so I dumped that. Microsoft Money needs a registry change to work, but now seems OK. Sorry, but I still hate the Start Menu. No worries though, Stardock have released Start 10 and that fixes that issue. Best of all, Lightroom 6 has no problems (so far).

Slightly different story with the laptop. I had put a Samsung SSD in a few months ago, and Win 10 refused to install because it could not recognise the reserved partition on the disk. That needed a clean re-installation of Win 8.1, and then Win 10 went in, but I lost all my installed software. Still a couple of grouches; the Personalisation options seem more restricted and harder to find than in Win 7 (though better than 8.1), making changes seems more complex because as well as keeping the old Control Panel there is a new Settings screen that sometimes takes you back to the Control Panel and sometimes not. It can get confusing.

Final conclusion - it can pose challenges, but no real regrets.

Your problem is that there is no space left on the System Reserved Partition, and some needs to be freed up before the upgrade can proceed. Windows 10 needs 15MB free on that partition so it can update the boot manager to the Windows 10 version

If you have a partition manager you can move partitions around and resize them

Otherwise

1) Open an admin command prompt

2) Run diskpart.exe (and do the following):
a. list vol
b. <Look for the volume # for the System Reserved Partition>
c. sel vol #
d. assign letter=W
e. exit

3) Go to W: drive and look for stuff you can safely delete

1406535 2015-08-15 22:16:00 Oh yes I nearly forgot my network card runs way faster under Win10, sending backups whether files using syncback or images using Active@ was very slow under Win7.

Active used to take nearly 2 hours to write and send an system image to my server using Win7 only took 20 mins with Win10 yesterday.

Swmbos desktop using identical hardware was always faster than mine over the network.

1406537 2015-08-15 22:47:00 Yup I noticed wireless went faster too. 2.4 used to go between 130-144. When I was using it. At least Canon released Win10 drivers before Win10 came out

Everything has drivers for Win10 now (after I managed to find the right drivers for the wireless and the fingerprint scanner). Decided to use Start10 on these. It was cheap so why not

I like it. Only thing I noticed was the new build under devices and printers, it's got the wrong icon for that PC. It looks like a 3D block. Not a PC. But, I wont cry over it

But everything works fine so far. No conflicts, no crashes

1406538 2015-08-16 00:37:00 I Love the Quick Access pane on the left of the Windows Explorer.
Its absolutely brilliant as it adds folders you use regularly.

1406540 2015-08-16 05:06:00 Not sure yet, one way or another but leaning towards favourable. I see a mix of XP & W8.1.

One thing I miss. Used to have "cancel all tabs" or " cancel this tab. Now only cancel all> PJ
