| 543935 | 2007-04-24 11:41:00 | I have just bought a wireless access point and PCI card for at home - Dlink DWL 925. My DSL modem is the Linksys AG241. The Dlink is connected to the Linksys on one of the linksys ports. I have one pc connected to the Dlink wireless access point via ethernet cable to the Dlink 4port switch. My other PC is connected via wireless PCI card. Now, when the Linksys modem is turned off, the two PC's can talk to eachother fine, I can transfer files, connect, everything. When I turn the Linksys modem on and try to connect to the other PC I get a message saying "\\**** is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the admin of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The semaphore timeout period has expired." I can ping the other computer from cmd without any problems. There must be a setting in the modem that doesnt quite line up with the settings on the Dlink accesspoint. I have had a quick look but I dont understand half of the stuff in there. Please help! |

If so, you are cascading routers (both devices are routers) and they appear to have default IP numbers on different subnets . They probably both have DHCP turned on as well . Quite frankly, unless you know a wee bit more about IP networking and cascading routers, I think you need to get some help on the ground . But you could try this site as it seems to be pretty similar to your setup . . comcast . net/hqh/html/tworouters . htm" target="_blank">mywebpages . comcast . net Good luck! |

Gave Xnet support a call and they got me up and running - he suggested manually set IP's on both PC's and one for the Dlink. So I did, and it's all go! After owning the Telecom Dlink I wasnt too sure about it, but this wireless router is great. From one end of my house to the other I have excellent coverage. Thanks Xnet Support |
