543656	2007-04-23 23:24:00	I have built a 2nd machine for doing non internet related things. In the last 6 months I havent had a chance to use it because it randomly keeps resetting itself. It usually happens at random intervals; sometimes it will be on for a day then reset, other times for a few hours. Ocassionally when it restarts it will give an error msg, although it only happened a few times and I didnt write the msg down. It was something to do with the bios and it tried to load files from the floppy drive which I dont even have. This leads me to belive it could be the mobo. I have tried the following.... - bought a new 400w psu (which is adequete) - had the motherboard tested (although if the problem was with the motherboard I dont know wether they would leave it on long enough to see the problem occur?) - taken out all the pci cards - checked the heat of the hardware = ok - done a reinstall Im stumped!? From what I have googled it seems it could be either the mobo, memory or psu. Any help would be appreciated :)	systm (9904)
543657	2007-04-23 23:33:00	Untick automatically restart, and if its crashing or bringing up a BSOD, tell us what it says . Also check event viewer . See if there are any X's or errors under the application or system entries . Either press ctrl-c to copy then paste what it says here . Or if it gives u a MS link, click on it, and see what it says . 543660	2007-04-25 00:24:00	It looks like AVG is crashing, might be a conflict I dont know. Is this the latest version of AVG??? Is XP up to date, or was it before it started to crash? You could try and see if you can get hijackthis in my sig below, put it in its own folder, run it then click on scan and save a log. And post the log back here. We'll see (hopefully) if there's something causing the crashing.	Speedy Gonzales (78)

543662	2007-04-25 01:35:00	Log looks ok to me. When u built this system, did u configure the BIOS at all? It doesnt sound like u did or have. If it was trying to load from floppy, the floppy sounds like its the bootdisk. Go into the BIOS and change the bootdisk to the hard drive. I would also change the date/time in the BIOS to todays date and time. And save the settings. And if u havent configured anything else in the BIOS yet, it maybe a good idea to go thru the BIOS now and see what needs enabling or disabling. I would also check the BIOS for the Virus boot sector virus protection option (it maybe different on your mobo), make sure its disabled.	Speedy Gonzales (78)
543663	2007-04-25 23:39:00	When I posted this problem I started up my system to see if I could get the error msg again. When I woke up this morning the computer had reset itself and this msg is now on this screen.... Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0 Copyright (c) 2000, Award Software, Inc Detecting floppy drive A media ... 543664	2007-04-25 23:45:00	I had a problem with the download of AVG from the main site, it did not install properly and caused a similar problem. Downloaded again from the alternate and it was fine from then on. Might be the same type of thing.	DeSade (984)
543665	2007-04-26 08:22:00	I doubt AVG would break the BIOS.... Sounds to me either a virus nuked it (unlikely), or your BIOS chip/motherboard is stuffed. You could download the latest BIOS file, fix with that recovery program and see what happens.... Maybe flash that didn't quite 'take' ?	Agent_24 (57)
