| 543445 | 2007-04-23 05:51:00 | When copying music to a CD, when I have only partially filled the CD, what do I do to be able to record more onto it at a later date? Thanks PJ ps Sweep, please ignore this request for help on this Help Forum. It seems to bother you when I do. Thankyou. pj |

| 543446 | 2007-04-23 05:56:00 | You will if you burn a multi session CD, poppa john. What CD burning software package are you using? | winmacguy (3367) | ||
| 543447 | 2007-04-23 05:59:00 | Normally u rip a cd to make them into MP3's. Then burn them back to cd either as an MP3 cd or an Audio CD. Usually u cant copy music (depending on what youre using), since its copy protected. I cant remember if u use Nero (dont think u can do it with Windows itself) whether it gives u the multisession option. If it does this is what u tick, if u want to add to it later. This also applies to data disks/cd's. |

Make sure that they were originally ripped at a decent bitrate no lower than 128kbps. I rip all my stuff at 192 kbps .AAC format. Generally the higher the bit rate the better the sound quality. |

How many songs are you wanting to put onto the CD PJ ? Just incase you didn't know, A CD is limited to the length of music(time)not the amount(mb) it takes up on a cd |

| 543450 | 2007-04-23 07:21:00 | After burning with Nero, you re insert the CD and one of the options is to continue adding data to that CD (multi session). I think XP's own CD burning software has a crude version of this, as I seem to remember doing multi session data CD's in XP, before I had Nero [EDIT] @Plod - If you sellect "data CD" when burning in Nero then the CD is mb limited instead of minute limited...however I don't think a data CD will play on a stero or in a car...it's just the easiest way to store music. |

Just incase you didn't know, A CD is limited to the length of music(time)not the amount(mb) it takes up on a cd Thanks plod. I was mainly asking as I have seen some CDs burned with a large number of mp3 songs on them and the most I have come across on a standard CD is 18 I think. I was mostly asking in case PJ was only going to burn 10 or less songs onto CD in the first session which would still leave room for more songs. |

When PJ asked about CD, I can only presume he is talking about a compact disc and not a cdrom. Compact disc's( which music cd's are) are limited by time. 70 or 80 minutes. Not sure which one. I do not think a multisession disc will work on a CD player unless it has been finalised. it may work on a mp3 player |

| 543453 | 2007-04-23 07:34:00 | I guess he can always find out. I don't burn to many music CDs myself since I mostly use my iPod so I can change my play lists as often as needed. | winmacguy (3367) | ||
| 543454 | 2007-04-23 08:54:00 | what do I do to be able to record more onto it at a later date? If it's recorded in .cda format instead of .mp3 then you CANT add any music later.....if you have burnt ONE song on to a cd that's all you can EVER have.......cd players which play .cda cd's are NOT designed to play 'multisession' cd's when they are not 'finalised'.......just cant be done......... |
