543393 2007-04-23 04:47:00 I have an intermittent problem where the cursor is missing when I want to change a user in Windows XP Professional. The mouse pointer is there but will not produce a cursor when clicking on a user name. A reboot always overcomes but it is a bit of a nuisance - does anyone have an answer. tapram (9325)
543394 2007-04-23 11:24:00 You've run a check for Spyware & the likes? Have you changed the cursor theme at all?

Does it happen on first boot, or do you have to log in as a user, and then logout again?

What graphics card / drivers?

543395 2007-04-23 21:52:00 Thanks for your interest. I don't have access to the particular computer at present ( it is one I use at a small business outlet where I help out) to check on graphics, drivers and etc. but OK at first log on - the problem arises intermittently when user changed. Read somewhere deletion and reinstallation of mouse driver may help - tried but did not make any difference. Do you think an update of graphics drivers may help? Have run usual checks for spyware and etc. No change of cursor theme. tapram (9325)
543396 2007-04-23 23:31:00 Possibly, I know that some nVidia cards, specifically a combination of the cheaper 16MB-cards that came with many compaq boxes (Rivas and vantas I think?) had similar issues to what you described when used with some driver versions.

I believe it was fixed around the 5x.yz series of nVidia drivers though, so really depends what kind of card you have.
