543814 2007-05-27 00:35:00 Is this the whole log Lurks? It looks a bit short. Might be coz its 98 and not 2k/XP.

What u posted looks ok to me. Its clean.

Altho, I would uninstall ALL versions of Sun Java and get the latest version in my sig below.

You could have tried Rogueremover in my sig, but it doesnt work on 98.

You could also try Spybot update it then do a scan too.

543816 2007-05-27 03:58:00 Speedy, thanks for that. Thought that popup webpage may have dropped something down to block the phone connection.

Cannot use the phone now if the the cable is plugged in, will just have to dismantle and see if there might be a spider in the works!!.

Thanks anyway.

Lurks.

Ps. Perhaps MS is killing off all Win98SE sotware!.

543818 2007-05-27 20:15:00 pctek thanks for response. Scanreg /restore was the first thing we tried and there are only 4 of those at any one time.

Will pull the back off the thing and see if any wires cables are causing the short in the phone line connection as the phone goes dead.

Three machines with the reliable, so we thought Win98SE installed, have got one up and going by using the win cd and startup disk, but it still does not recognise the floppy drive, keeps wanting to format any floppies inserted except for the startup disk!!!!!!!.

Lurks.

Then its a dead floppy drive.

And I'd say a faulty modem too.

543820 2007-05-28 21:16:00 pctek, everything is dead or dying, went to one funeral yesterday and couldn't make the other, timing thing .

Have taken the back off the General and given the dust a good blow out, even had a spiders web, perhaps the spider has been on the line . Have given it a rest overnight and will let wifey switch it on this morning .

The other machine a Digital used the startup floppy in conjunction with the Win98se cd so it appeared to re-install using both mediums .

Will take this apart now that I am getting keen .

Thanks,

Lurks .

Ps . will let you know .

lurks .
