543456 2007-04-23 10:37:00 For me, this is a carry on from my previos thread, "Recording from the TV" started on the 14th April.
I learnt a lot from that, especially from Surfer Joe via E Mail. Thankyou Joe for your patience.

I have been looking for Free Music Downloads, preferably more than one track at a time. Straight off the Net, & not using Audacity or somesuch. I only want to play it here at home, thro the computer or CD Boombox.

I have, so far, managed to 'Save' single tracks & in My Music, have put them into one folder. So. I now have 22 tracks, a total of 143 MB. I put them on a CD, 52x CD-R 700MB 80mins. As you can see I only got 143MB onto it & it is closed off. Seems a waste of space, yes I know blank CDs are only about 50cents each.

One source I found was All About Jazz. http://www.allaboutjazz.com. I still want to 'Save' stream music, in particular, Cool Blue FM Radio as was.

I shall assimulate all your advice & press on. Thankyou All. Poppa John.

Just remember pj, that you are not an expert at ripping/burning and such until you have several sets of matching silvery coasters that you give to your wife and friends as gifts .

I tie some of mine to strings and hang them in trees as "bird scare-ers" to protect my fruit trees .

My neighbors are supplied with ample numbers of them too .

Just wait until you start saving/burning to dvd's! Love/curse Nero!

543459 2007-04-23 20:33:00 Oh joy,I thought I was the only one with a stack of coasters. Cicero (40)
543460 2007-04-23 22:26:00 I haven't come across any music that can't be copied.

I meant as is (from CD to CD

543461 2007-04-23 22:36:00 you haven't run into copyloc then - not that it's difficult to get around, even WMP11 quietly avoids the protection and rips the CD - bloody Hypocrites

and in Nero you just extract the tracks rather than doing a direct copy

543462 2007-04-23 22:43:00 I'll try again.

I haven't come across any music that can't be copied.

I meant as is (from CD to CD) its better to rip it first.

Usually you'll get coasters, if you try and burn something directly from the net, or elsewhere. It wont keep up.

So, Don't bother trying anything this way.

Nero and Nerovision DO work, if it makes coasters, then obviously, you're doing something wrong.

If you want more than the usual Audio CD (18-19 songs), you'll have to make an MP3 CD. However, to play an MP3 CD, on anything other than a PC, you need something that can play an MP3 CD.

I spose a data disk would do the same as an MP3 CD, it lets you burn as much as the CD can take. BUT, it'll only play on a PC nothing else. This will also give u the option to leave the cd open, if u want to add to it later.

And if you're getting too many coasters, the cd's / dvd's you've got are most probably stuffed / a bad batch. Which can happen.

543464 2007-04-24 01:04:00 Hi All.
Sitting up in bed last night with a mug of tea because Toothache would not let me sleep, I decided to read, again, the printed version of this thread. I realised that I had not answered the questios asked of ME. I apologise.

I use Nero 6.

I record as MP3.

Multisession option is available.

How many songs on a CD? Full.

Tried XP version to copy & it wouldn't.

Cds I am using are, DSE 52xCD-R700MB 80 mins.

I have made two coasters so for. Not the systems fault. All mine.

A Q tho. I have recorded 22 tracks, about 143MB onto a CD. I can play it on the computer, but it won't play on the Boombox. I assume that it will NOT play MP3. So how do I change MP3 to something else that will play?

Thanks PJ.
