| 544192 | 2007-04-25 03:53:00 | Brought a LG notebook, with DVD burner. However, Dvd could read but not write dvd . Ran the Nero Infotool and got information that it can read and write both DVD-/+ R and RW, with DVD+R DL, but not ticked with DVD-R DL. Tried to put both DVD-R and DVD+R, discs are not recognised, thus can't burn. Can recognize CD-R. Using Windows XP pro, all updated, with Nero 7 Ultra edition. Any suggestion is appreciated. |

XP cant write to DVD, which is most probably why it doesnt work with XP. You need a 3rd party program. If u go to the recorder menu in Nero does the burner appear here?? |

| 544194 | 2007-04-25 04:10:00 | Got a Nero that came with the laptop, but I didn't like it. Not sure why the OS installed would not let me do much even if I am set as admin, so I installed everything fresh with a better version of Nero. Yes in the list of recoders, the burner does show up in the Nero and it is the burner that I've chosen to burn as I have only one in the laptop. I have also tried 15 day trial version of Cheetah burner, same result, could not see the DVD disc to burn. |

| 544195 | 2007-04-25 04:32:00 | So does DVD burning work with the new version of Nero?? XP doesnt support burning to DVD by default, only CDR like u found out. It doesnt matter whether you're logged in as Admin or not. In Nero you wont see the DVD to burn, but just as long as the burner appears in Nero under the recorder menu, and once u go to burn a dvd it'll let u select the burner, and then it'll burn whatever to the burner. |

Ran Nero Infotool, it says the drive should be able to burn both DVD+/-R or RW. In short, it can't burn DVDs only reads, not writes. Neron Infotool shows that it can recognise CDR, but could not recognise both DVD -R or+R, simply says no disc. |

| 544198 | 2007-04-25 11:08:00 | I am familiar with burning processes as I have burned many backups, data, videos etc. Just tried to burn a DVD data and it worked with a different dics (Dicksmith) and it worked. My other DVD burner, Sony, does not have a problem in the other discs that I tried with the problematic laptop burner. So I think I will logically conclude that it can only recognise some discs. Thanks |
