2007-04-28 21:05:00 | I've played with a few distro's and settled on Ubuntu. Talk about easy! User friendly...even managed to network with XP through Samba. That may not seem like a big deal to some but I'm self taught & now almost bald. I'm also interested in learning the server stuff so will watch with interest. Ubuntu will send their OS for free, X64, X86, Mac, as many as you want. www.ubuntu.com

2007-04-29 23:54:00 | Looking through the Linux distros for a server.......and then realising how useless Xtra broadband is here, (No i cant change) what are the cons and (if any) pros of using XP as a fileserver? | aidanmaz (7180) | |
2007-04-30 00:02:00 | Linux is cheaper, and not prone to viruses. Also very suited as a file server and check out this forum thread by SuferJoe pressf1.pcworld.co.nz | winmacguy (3367) | |
2007-04-30 00:23:00 | WOW! now thats a setup i want! consider the server is in my room (yes i can sleep with it on 24/7)i think il stick wit XP (consider it is the only OS cd i can find currently, as xtra is dodgey on our line at this minute (HMMMM auckland rain possibly) | aidanmaz (7180) | |
2007-04-30 02:59:00 | Why can't you just download a suitable Linux distro? Rain shouldn't have any affect on your BB unless your with Woosh and then it would only be the very heavy rain that "might" affect it.

2007-04-30 04:19:00 | Did you get remote access (thru internet) and remote control (just the RDP client) working for your WHS build?. Works well for me! | SolMiester (139) | |
