I have noticed that the 'Disk Extender' service does use hugh cpu cycles sometimes, but is essential for the 'Home User' easy disk management platform of the system. The O/S is still Server2003 and you can use it as such with domain, proper user accounts, DNS,DHCP, Policies etc, and I for 1 will purchase WHS when it comes out, though I will get a decent box to run it on, maybe a SFF unit that quiter too, this box is nearing the end. Have you setup remote access and remote console?. Its cool, I have setup accounts for friends and familys. No i havent set that up, part b/c i dont really hav too many techsavvy ppl round :-) I find WHS slower than a 2k or 2k3 server, over a network, when copying or moving files. I mite get another achine to use it on, but i would prefer an no-expiring 2k3 server. I dont think i would buy it,when i have access to 2k3 enterprise and the like. |
