| 545206 | 2007-04-29 05:55:00 | Just saw a friend's computer (he built it himself) with a recovery option (press F9) at startup, which I think is very cool! He said that it was created by a friend. During startup, when F9 is pressed, something like a DOS sceen menu appears where we can select Back Up, Restore and Exit. This certainly makes recovery very easy. Anyone knows how to make this happen? I know we can use Ghost to create a backup & bootup disk but how to integrate it into the startup? Cheers |

Supporting Microsoft operating systems including Windows Vista/XP/2K/NT/98/Me and DOS, and file systems including FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS, Xpress Recovery2 is able to back up data on hard disks on PATA and SATA IDE controllers. After Xpress Recovery2 is executed from CD-ROM for the first time, it will stay permanent in your hard disk. If you wish to run Xpress Recovery2 later, you can simply press F9 during system bootup to enter Xpress Recovery2 without the CD-ROM. System requirements: 1. Intel x86 platforms 2. At least 64M bytes of system memory 3. VESA-supported VGA cards The images on the page match your description: www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/TechGuide_List.aspx?NewTechID=91 or you might have to see Google's Cached page: www.google.co.nz (its the last link on the 1st page) |

Its just what they have with their MBs now. Someone here with a Gigabyte AM2 MB has it. One thing I found, if you have already set up your HDDs, be warned, it won't let you use 2 seperate HDDs to do it. It wants 2 partitions on the same drive - the boot drive. There is also a way to do this yourself manually, like the Compaqs and stuff do. Fairly longwinded though. I prefer Ghost. |

So, this is part of Gibabyte MB features? |
