545303 2007-05-01 20:26:00 OK, it is good that you are getting the stuff off. I am not sure on this, but can knoppix actually write to NTFS? (assuming you are running NTFS) most Linux distros can't, they can only read The_End_Of_Reality (334)
545304 2007-05-01 22:54:00 It seems to be copying fine, got 130gb on the go now.

Wrote to FAT32 fine too.

545305 2007-05-02 01:17:00 OK, good. once that is done, run Seatools and see if that pickes anything up, if not reformat it and keep stuff that you wouldn't mind loosing on it for a while... till it builds up your trust again :p The_End_Of_Reality (334)
545306 2007-05-02 11:18:00 Well, I already went about reformatting it and moving all the data back, I do remember having this problem in the past (a long time ago with a different drive) and it turned out to be Windows giving me ****. I think.

Anyway, all is well now that I have it all back, cheers for all the help guys. :D

545307 2007-05-02 11:39:00 Just RUN SEATOOLS on it!!! a HDD will (if you are lucky) give strange signs of failure before it actually fails. it is possible that the drive is NOT OK and could be a matter of time before it does go. So if you value your data RUN SEATOOLS The_End_Of_Reality (334)
