A-Data 2*512MB RAM DDR 400If I read correctly, the motherboard supports both DDR and DDR2? I figured just DDR coz the client is trying to keep the costs as low as possible while still having reasonable computing power.

No, according to the data on Ascent (ascent.co.nz) it only has 2 DDR2 slots, DDR and DDR2 are totally incompatible, I have not seen nor heard of a mobo that supports both DDR and DDR2 RAM The_End_Of_Reality (334)

They do ASUS, Logitech, Viewsonic, Kingston ValueRAM, Windows, among other things.
Some ASUS stuff is cheaper than Mstar, some not. But they have excellent service too.
