546391 2007-05-02 21:47:00 Hey all. I've been wrestling with this problem for a couple of days now. When this computer I'm working on clicks 'To' under new message in Outlook, it displays and error saying the contact list is no longer there. The contact list from the exchange server is fine, and so is the personal contact list, but there is a duplicate empty contact list, which is causing the error.

Does anybody know how to delete this ghost contact list, it only seems to show here.

Thank heaps

546392 2007-05-03 11:34:00 Maybe find the associated *.pab (Outlook Address book file) and rename it or move it to another location and see if that does it. Mamaz (10231)

I think you mean a .pst file? Be aware this file contains all your email, sent items etc along with your address book.

Under Directory selcet View or change existing directories or address books.

There you can add/remove and change address books. Let me know if you need any more help.

No .ost file is correct as they are using Exchange.

Have you had a look under Mail in the Control Panel?

546397 2007-05-07 05:35:00 Tried a few things. Renamed the .ost file and it still shows. It's a local list. It isn't viewable under the usual methods of adding/removing directories. Any ideas as to where the record of this contact list would be hiding so I can delete it?

Thanks alot

546398 2007-05-07 06:44:00 Found this on another site and thought it might help you .

Do this first:

1 . In the Outlook Navigation Pane, click Contacts .
2 . Under My Contacts, right-click the Contacts folder that you want to
remove from the Address Book, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu .
3 . Click the Outlook Address Book tab, and then clear the Show this folder
as an e-mail Address Book check box .
4 . Click OK .
5 . In the Show names from the list, make sure that the Contacts folder is
not displayed in the list . If it is still displayed in the list, follow the
steps in the next procedure .

Do this next:

To delete the Contacts folder from the Address Book, do the following:
1 . On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts .
2 . Click View or change existing directories or address books, and then
click Next .
