546399 2007-05-02 20:53:00 I need to put a simple application form on a website.
Once submitted the form is to be sent to 5 email addresses.

I had someone looking into this for me but he got a little busy and ran out of time so I need someone else to help.

Either needed to be pointed to a site that will generate the code I need for free or someone to code it for me.

Please do not suggest a google search as I have spent hours on google trying to find something suitable.

546400 2007-05-03 01:07:00 Some more info would be helpful to assist with your query... how far have you got with the form? Is it just the additional addresses to be sent to that is the problem? What do you mean by "application" form? Is that just what the form is used for?

I suggest a Google search.

(Just kidding) :D

Is the site located on a Unix, Linux, MS server? And does it have cgi's installed or installable?

If you contact the web host you are using, they should be able to help you.

Server type I have no idea but its run by a friend so I can have anything I need installed on it.

Its a application form to join a online gaming guild, a few questions then sent to the officers to approve.

I haven't gotten anywhere with the form, I do not know where to start

546403 2007-05-03 01:47:00 There are a lot of different ways of doing this, but it all depends on the server setup. For instance, I do exactly this on one of my websites, running on a Windows 2003 server with IIS6.0 and ASP code to enter information into an Access database and create a CDO object to email people. But that's just my setup ... yours may be totally different!

Greg's questions need answering ... Unix/Linux/Win server? What web hosting software -- IIS/Apache? Do you have ASP/PHP/CGI installed?

546405 2007-05-03 11:28:00 It is critical that you identify what platform the webserver is running on as mentioned by the members above. When you do have a look at hotscripts.com and you will find heaps of free open source scripts, cgi-perl, asp, .net, php etc etc that will help you to accomplish what you want. It will help you learn a lot too. Mamaz (10231)

Many web hosts also provide a shared form script, so you don't need to worry at all about setting one up.

In that case you could use a PHP script instead of a CGI one, which as a lot easier. eg scripts such as http://formtoemail.com/

Doesn't your webhost provide you with access to a shared free one, as it is also a lot easier.
