| 546409 | 2007-05-04 04:32:00 | I am a complete noob with php etc, I have the questions I want to ask So what I want to do is simply copy and paste a script into my own site layout and change the questions to match what I want to ask then change the emails to point to the five I want it to send too when done. Honestly I never thought this would be such a mission. |

Honestly I never thought this would be such a mission. If you contact your web host, they should have a shared script that will allow you to do just that ,so you don't need to worry at all about setting up a form processing script. You would just have the details between the tags <form .....></form> in the page that you need to worry about. I would recommend this, because spammers will also try to hijack a form to send out their spam, and a shared script will be more secure. Also you should also have a capcha image in the form to stop automated spam bots. If you need to use a form processing script, using a seperate PHP script instead of a seperate CGI script is far simplier, as they are very similar scripts. but you don't need to worry about uploading the cgi script in ascii and changing the file permissions to get it to work. |

Can someone just post the code or point me to somewhere I can copy it please. Would have been good to know that initially, as it would have saved us a lot of time. You may not be able to use CGI on such a server anyway, as generally the host provides a special cgibin folder, which without it you may not be able to use a CGI script. I use this script myself www.boaddrink.com for one of my website forms, however it has recently been attacked by spammers using it as a relay. The www.boaddrink.com script has all the help files and examples, and even a monkey could set it up, it is that easy, and no you don't need to know how to use php to use it and it doesn't require permissions. |
