| 547187 | 2007-05-05 01:57:00 | I'm starting to do a bit of website type programming and my son has pointed me in the direction of PHP. I've got a next handbook called "MySQL + PHP an introduction" and I've played around a bit with some of the content:rolleyes: It recommends Eclipse as an editor, which is also my son's choice - it's fairly complicated for someone like me, but I'm persevering:waughh: Anyway, for this sort of thing, I'd be interested in what other people use. Half the fun of this sort of exercise is trying new things out:eek: |

| 547188 | 2007-05-05 02:16:00 | I mainly use Dreamweaver or a text editor(depends on OS) as thats what we use at Uni. At first I found Dreamweaver a bit difficult to use but after persevering I now find it adequate for my needs. | Pete O'Neil (6584) | ||

It is also the industry standard tool. I am also a fan of Freehand which Adobe has killed in favour of Illustrator. | winmacguy (3367) | ||

| 547191 | 2007-05-05 02:39:00 | I tend to use Dreamweaver mostly, mainly because it's always open on my PC. But for a quick bit of work at other times I love the excellent and free NoteTab Light. | Greg (193) | ||

| 547193 | 2007-05-05 02:46:00 | From what I know, MY SQL and PHP are used to compliment tools like Dreamweaver to give you the full web dev package such as a front page or pages with the necessary functions and connections to a MY SQL database. | winmacguy (3367) | ||

This editor is very similar to Notepad ++, but has the added ability to handle Unix files also - strips the carriage returns from the ends of rows - if that's of any interest. Probably not... Also handles any kind of text file you can think of - if it's not there in the standard setup, you can add it and even apply syntax colouring to all the different file types... www.editpadpro.com The link has the evaluation version download at the bottom of the page. |
