547304 2007-05-05 07:54:00 Have you set up port fowarding? You can still do it even without setting up a static IP, as your LAN IP address will always be the same anyway.
Also, do you upload much? As it is how much you upload that determines what your id is.

547305 2007-05-05 08:02:00 I don't think having a Static IP address will resolve your problems and give you high ID.

I have emule and broadband and a router and I have a dynamic IP address. I use to have it as a static IP then when reading this forum one day that you don't have too. I changed it back to dynamic and it works fine. High ID.

What firewall are you running? Take a good look at this. As this will stop your ports from forwarding.

Are you sure you mapped the ports properly in your router?
Have you applied the new Nat Rule you created with the ports you want open?
Have you Saved and rebooted your router?

I really think you are wasting your time trying to make your IP Static (however the directions I gave you should have made it static)

547306 2007-05-05 08:26:00 ok i dont have to make it static i was just following instructions i was given on the port forwarding site, ie it says dont skip this method and also my modem info says its already dynamic so im really confused on what im doing, just kinda learning all about this as i go lol, can you give me step by step what to do? firewall i think all i have is windows firewall as i only installed windows vista last week and havent installed anything new yet so just running the basic so not sure if its that. should i just go thru the port forwarding site without doing the static ip part? also it says to go to lan ip address configuration and i cant see where that is on my router into it says click Virtual Server link which i did but it says there should be a port forwarding menu which there isnt on my router screen so im guessing i did something wrong? lol. thanks lisamarie01 (6731)
547307 2007-05-05 08:51:00 I'll let others handle this from now on.

The reason being that I don't have either Vista or a dynalink router. This makes it difficult for me to step you through the process.
I know basically what needs to happen, and even how to do it if I were doing it myself, but that isn't much use when trying to tell someone else how to do it :)

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you

547308 2007-05-05 08:52:00 thats cool thanks heaps for your help :) lisamarie01 (6731)
547309 2007-05-05 08:52:00 Yip forget everything portforward.com tells you about making your IP static, it doesn't matter.

That will make things eaiser for a start.

You have to get into that port forwarding menu under Virtual Server to forward your ports

In your router have you got your Lan address in their under "Lan IP Address Configeration"

Portforwarding guides arn't always accurate, I know that their guide for my router is different and it took me several minutes to find where to map the ports as it went under a different name to what they said it was.

So look around under Virtual Server it should be there, I know with my router if you don't have an IP address in it won't let you get into Virtual Server menu.

Make the Start Ports and the End Ports the same number also.

If you get stuck upload a photo of your router menu so we can look at it.

547312 2007-05-05 09:53:00 They should have a tick to say enabled and since you are using port TCP 4000 is that the port you are using in eMule? radium (8645)
