2007-05-04 23:03:00 | Get the 7600GS, anything more will be restricted far too much by the rest of your gear . Finally someone posts some sense in this thread! All the cards Memphis recommended are ridiculously expensive and overpowered for the original posters system . Investing money in an aging AGP system is stupid, it only going to have to be replace in 6 months . lazydog only wants to play COD and UT2k4 both games will run fine on either a 6600GT or 7600GS . 512mb is not need on cards with such low processing power, 512mb is only beneficial at higher resolutions or high levels of filtering which a 7600 or 6600 cant do because they're not fast enough .

2007-05-04 23:15:00 | I've got a HP P4, 2 . 26ghz, 1gb ram and a Ti4200 64mb ram . I was thinking about upgrading the graphics card to a 6600gt but my mobo only supports 4x agp . Is it worth the upgrade? I like playing call of duty and UT2004 and are hoping that it will make the game play better . Thanks . No, it's not worth spending anything on upgrading . Save your money and buy a computer that will run your games properly . The most important thing is the cpu . Not much good adding ram or vid cards if the cpu lacks the power to use them

2007-05-05 00:38:00 | You are wrong Jack. I can run Command And Conquer Tiberium Wars, Need For Speed Carbon, FS9, FSX, Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Episode 1, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Virtual Skipper 5 32nd Americas Cup the Game on my ageing 4 year old computer with no problems. | 547115 | 2007-05-05 05:54:00 | You should always check out reviews on graphic cards before buying one so you get a good one and not a lemon!!! The cards I recommended are for if you are serious about gaming and want to have fun and enjoy your games . The 7600Gt wastes a 6600GT in the benchmarks!! 6600GT =real old card 7600GT =newer old card 8600GT =new card-pcie only at this moment in time . The 7600GS is a weakened 7600GT get a full strength 7600GT!!The 7600GT is way better then the 7600GS . If you pay peanuts . . . . . YOU GET MONKEYS!!! Personaly I would either get the best agp card out which is the Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB AGP for only $381 . 38 or save up a thousand dollars and go pcie and you would have to buy a new cpu,a new motherboard, new ram,new graphic card etc . So it really depends on how much you want to spend . $381 . 38 from a gamers prospective is a bargain!!! Go to a shop with your pc get them to put it in for you play the game that craps out on you with your present card and notice the improvement!! Either your a gamer or a wannabe!!:D Quote:JJJJJ The most important thing is the cpu . You are wrong JJJJJ the most important thing for gaming is the graphic card always has been, any gamer would know that . In order of importance for gaming: 1 . Graphic card 2 . CPU 3 . RAM Quote:Pete O'Neil lazydog only wants to play COD and UT2k4 both games You are wrong . Quote:lazydog I like playing call of duty and UT2004 and are hoping that it will make the game play better . He likes playing those games but I don't know any gamer on any platform that has . . . . . . only two games!! Hay I am only trying to help so you don't get a lemon and you get the best card . Or go pcie . Its up to you but if you get a inferior card you will wonder how much better it would have been with the better graphic card . And you will go **** I should have got that better card that Memphis said . :D I bought my 1900XT for $$$$ heaps more then any of those cards . Am I happy I did, . . . I sure am man!! Would I do it again . . . . *^%$ YES!!! No going back to cheap ****ty cards for me now, takes longer to save up but it is really worth it from a gamers view . :2cents:

Trevor :) Don't agree with you Trev. You probably have a vid card that is ideal for your cpu. But if you wanted to improve performance you would need to upgrade the pcu before upgrading the vid card. |

2007-05-06 03:59:00 | Well i can't afford to upgrade my computer just yet so it's a graphics card for the time being. I enjoy gaming but only have CoD+UO and UT2004 on my computer as my computer is mainly used for video editing when i have the work. I will be upgrading the computer in the near future because of the video editing i do but i have to go to oz for family reasons first. So as you see, i don't want to spend too much on a card. It looks like from the replies that the 7600GT is my best option. Would i notice much difference between the Ti4200 and a 6600GT?. What would you do in my situation?. Cheers.
