546908	2007-05-04 08:52:00	Hi there : ) I would just like to ask for some suggestions on how I would go about or what software can I use to get a chinese (Trad CH that is) prog to display properly on English XP Pro with SP1 . I've check the past post regarding to this problem and have tried and know about the settings under Regional & Language Option, however the prog still display funny characters . I've also tried NJStar Communicator, it did make some funny characters into more look a-like chinese characters but still not readable/understandable chinese . Also googled . . . but found no decent progs or tips . Did come acroos TwinBridge . . . though b/c it cost $$$ . . . . which I dont have . . . thats out of the question >_< . The prog that I'm trying to get working is a Online Tax Return prog for TW . Basically every word/character in the prog (when its runs) is all question marks . . . . How I used to get the prog running, was intall WinXP chinese . . . however due I only have 1 pc now (with XP ENG) . . . doing so would require me to reformat . . . which I dont have any hdd or space to back things up with >_< . . . . Partitioning . . . that I've thought of . . . my HDD cannot or should not be partitioned any more . . . each HDD already has 3 partitions . . . >_< . So would like to ask for suggestions on how would go about getting the prog displaying properly . However I am also suspecting that the prog could be one of those that was not programmed well enough to run in other languages except for XP CHT . Though if thats the case . . . any one know where I could get a real dirt cheap 20-40GB hdd from? Will start looking on Trademe after this . . . . Many thanks	CCF (6760)

546911	2007-05-04 23:10:00	Looks like there isn't any short-cut to this issue other than changing to Chinese OS. Have you tried Chinese Star? It is interesting to know how to do it without having to install the Chinese ver of OS	bk T (215)
546912	2007-05-05 03:21:00	There is only 1 program that will work. Language Pack for XP. CD1 has Chinese Simplify + Triditional + all other asian packs. All this progrom does is turning the internal language setting to the language you want. This pack installs on top of the Eng XP. The skin which is the menus is also changeable. i.e. u can have English menus interface with Chinese IME. This definately is what you need. besides I rather have an english copy of XP and be able to change it anytime.	cityhunter2000 (8700)
546913	2007-05-05 03:48:00	Try Control Panel > Regional & Language Options > Advanced (Tick all the 'chinese stuff' that applies) Control Panel > Regional & Language Options > Languages Tab > Details > Advanced > Tick compatability. Control Panel > Regional & Language Options > Advanced > Choose your default language for non-Unicode programs to be Chinese (Taiwan), or Chinese (PRC) for traditional and simplified chinese respectively.	jesseycy (1046)

Microsoft release the pack for business people travelling between countries etc. In vista the pack is available in vista ultimate as a download via update center. other versions are required to purchased seperately. PS: The MUI (Multilingual User Interface Pack) is only available in XP Pro. Purchase: How can I acquire Windows MUI? The Windows XP/2000 MUI is sold only through Volume Licensing programs such as the Microsoft Open License Program (MOLP / Open), Select, and Enterprise agreement (or with a new computer as an OEM version at customer request). To bk T Thanks for your reply, as for Chinese Star, yes this prog I also have tried . . . though wasnt much help as well :( To cityhunter2000 Thanks for the heads up on that Multilingual User Interface Pack, (am looking up more info for it at this very moment) . Currently came across "Windows XP Embedded - Windows XP Embedded with SP1 Language Packs" . . . Would this work too? Downloading this atm . To jesseycy Thanks for your 3 tips, the first two didnt do much, however the 3rd tip "Choose your default language for non-Unicode programs to be Chinese (Taiwan) . . . " did imporve the display . Now the menu and the program window is readable . . . however . . . >_< . . . the display within the program itself is still question marks and funny characters . Many thanks for all the suggestion .
