547451 2007-05-05 13:01:00 Hi there gentle Peepettes and Peeps,
For some unknown reason (er, hence the question :groan: ) it seems that almost everything I download now a days seems to be corrupted.
At first, it was just an attachment to an email. I just thought it was 'the other end'. But today I've downloaded a registry cleaner program (I also contacted them just in case), then I downloaded Adobe Reader for a Windows PDA, then I tried downloading a couple of other programs just for the sake of it (not sure what they were). After doing an AVG antivirus scan on all of them, and then running them, they were all corrupted at some stage during the install.
The downloads appear to go well, but when I attempt to 'run' the downloads, it may start well at installing, but some where through it comes up and says file corrupted.
Then I thought that actually doing the antivirus scan may be doing it, so I downloaded Adobe Reader for a Windows PDA again (Adobe's site should be ok, a?) and ran it straight away, no antivirus scan. Still corrupted.
Any ideas?

Many regards,
The Cell :D

547452 2007-05-05 15:04:00 Hi

Do you use a download manager? or do you have zone alarms privacy protection switched on?

From my experience both of these can corrupt downloads.

If you have either it might be worth switching them off and seeing what happens.

I use the Orbit download manager which works well for me, and its free.

Its known to corrupt downloads

No I don't use a download manager, er, that I know of. Unless there is a 'built in' one in Firefox. But no 'standalone' download manager. I will take a peek at this
Orbit download manager you write of. I thank you!

Get your pay now! Spot on! In a fit of 'madness', after I posted this thread, I actually typed in Google "Why are all my downloads corrupted?" Low and behold many results, but there were two amongst the 'bright light in my eyes' that were exactly what I'd asked. One was to do with the motherboard (an ASUS) where a forum explained exactly what to do (done) and the other was...... ta da all about the Nvidia firewall and.............. to disable then delete it!
Once again, I thank you! Problem seems very much sorted!

Many reagards,

The Cell :D
