548483 2007-05-09 01:22:00 Some friends of mine bought as mercury computer from warehouse stationary about 18months ago.
When they are using it it decides to close down and restart itself usually half way through some thing they are doing.
Have any other's had this problem.
I am unsure of the specs but know that it is running windows xp home edition, has 256mb of ram and intergrated video and sound.
This problem has been ongoing and despite contacting the manufacture they are still at wits end as to what could be the problem.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciatted.

548484 2007-05-09 01:44:00 Hi Ddop

I had the same problem with mine (built by local guy) I opened up dusted it out & replaced the cpu fan that was sticking now and again. It was happening during hot days. No problems since so was an overheating problem.

Maybe your prob as well or perhaps your psu doing the same.

548485 2007-05-09 03:24:00 Restarts normally or continues to restart?

Go into Control Panel. Double click the System icon.,
Click on the Advanced TAB.
Click Startup and Recoveryt Settings button.

Untick Automatically Restart.

Now they can see if it BSODs. If so, not the EXACT error message and report back.

If not, I'd be changing the PSU.

And remember: You get what you pay for. I have no sympathy for people who buy s***boxes.

548486 2007-05-09 03:42:00 Theres nowhere near enough information in your post to even begin diagnosing the problem. At the very least you need to provide the entire system specs. Your post is the equivalent of going up to a friends who's good with cars and say "my car is broke". Pete O'Neil (6584)
