548467 2007-05-09 00:35:00 I have an M407 HP Photosmart Digital Camera. The problem is the batteries are constantly depleted immediately they are inserted and camera turned on. This was a known fault. I was told to download a patch. In order to download the patch I needed the camera on so I purchased an AC adaptor. This took weeks to arrive. Got lost with the courier. I had to make phone callse/send emails myself. Wasted a lot of time. Adaptor turned up minus a power cord! I borrowed a cord and started using it only to find out that the patch was for earlier versions of my camera (mine is V 3.01). I tried to install it anyway incase mine was corrupted. Camera doesn't work well enough to install the patch. Phoned the 0800 number, got referred to Chat, phoned chat got referred to 0800 number, phoned them and was told that there is no option to send it away to get fixed. No one ever got back to me from HP in emails except to say that they had received my emails. So now I have a camera that I can't use and an adaptor that cost me $60 that I don't need.

Next camera I buy I'll check out the support first but I know it won't be an HP!

If anyone can help with the camera issued I'd appreciate it.

Bye the way I'm in New Zealand.

Thanks

That's the path I would take. I wouldn't have even bothered with the adaptor. As SolMiester says, take it back. It's useless as is. If the retailer can resolve the problem (within a reasonable amount of time - 3-5 working days) let them have a go. Otherwise, get your money back or a replacement.

548470 2007-05-09 03:29:00 It's out of warranty unfortunately. But thanks for the reply. anneparker (12235)
548471 2007-05-09 05:58:00 Consumer Guarantees Act gazumps the manufacturers warranty - unless it's years old, I would try going back to the retailer.... just ask nicely - you might be pleasantly surprised. johcar (6283)
548472 2007-05-09 06:14:00 Agreed. I would definitely take it back. As long as you tell them your wanting to replace it, it shouldn't be a problem. winmacguy (3367)
