548459 2007-05-08 23:40:00 I have a new ASUS Video Graphics Card EN7600GT/2DHT/256M/A supplied by Morning Star. This has a 7-pin DIN-style round analogue output port. It comes with a cable to plug into this port with 3 "COMPONENT" RCA jacks on the other end (this is for HDTV). I want to get "COMPOSITE" analogue output, and other makers of 7600GT cards specify such an output using the same 7-pin port. Morning Star does not answer their tech e-mail, and ASUS's answer begged the question but may still answer. Component video requires 4 pins I think, so there are still 3 free which could do composite and S-Video. Does anyone have pin-out details for the 7-pin port please? James Kirk (3742)

Oh yes they do.
And if you have an account with them why not just phone them?
Or you don't have an account in which case no, they won't because they don't deal with the end user.

The minimal courtesy of responding to my e-mail to say that you will only answer the wholesale supplier would have been a good thing. Anyway the wholesaler is Tauranga Computers and they haven't passed on your answer.

Thanks, I learnt a lot from your links. It would appear that S-video and composite outputs should be accessible. I'm still hoping to learn the pin-out details for sure from ASUS.

Speedy, Interesting data you've found, thanks.

However, this should not be the right pinout, as some of the pins should be assigned to "component" signals.

Tauranga Computers are sending me a cable; I'll know soon if it is right for the ASUS 7600GT card.

No it can't be right, the 7-pin miniDin to composite cable is not compatible with the ASUS card as the pin it uses (pin 7) is grounded on the card.

ASUS has come back and said to ask the local supplier (Morning Star): not much use as they won't answer a retail customer.
